Finn den Hertog is a Scottish director and theatre maker, based in Glasgow.
After graduating from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Finn worked as an actor on stage, screen and radio before pivoting to directing in the early 2010s. He gained a practical training through assisting positions with Grid Iron, the Young Vic and the National Theatre of Great Britain and found success on the Fringe with shows such as Squash (2014) and Light Boxes (2015).
He has since established himself as one of Scotland’s most “audacious” and “sought after” directors, with productions seen throughout the UK, at the Edinburgh International Festival, the West End, Off-Broadway and most recently in cinemas around the world via NT Live.
He is founder and co-lead artist of the acclaimed and award-winning performance collective Groupwork, along with choreographer Vicki Manderson and sound and video designer Lewis den Hertog.
Between 2022-2025 he was an Associate Artist of National Theatre of Scotland and since 2019 has been a regular guest director and lecturer at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
As well as directing theatre Finn has worked on short film, audio drama for the BBC, a performance installation with acclaimed designer Choe Lamford and in 2026 made his radio debut as a DJ.
